A presentation for carnival took place in Rancho Texas yesterday to inform us what to expect for this years celebrations taking place in Puerto del Carmen between February 27 and March 1. As always the main celebrations will take place in the old town harbor with the procession arriving there after starting at the San Antonio hotel and moving along the main beach road. Live music will be performed in the square by a well know spanish artist Don Patricio on the Friday evening before the procession day. On the Sunday which is the last day, a children’s party will be held with musical activities and tapas treats. In there past there has been a battle between Arrecife and Puerto del Carmen as the dates are pretty close and in particular an event to close Arrecefice called the burial of the Sardine tends to coincide with the start of events in Puerto del Carmen. This year this will not happen and participants will be able to enjoy the fiestas in both areas. The programme is no officially out, so if you have never experienced carnival it well worth booking a trip to the island to enjoy the party.
