Did you know that there thousands of rabbits on the island of Lanzarote? So much so that the nick name for the people of Lanzarote between islands is ‘Conejero’ which means rabbit. Its quite common and a tradition among some of the locals to go hunting. Hunting season runs through the summer from August until September and is a very serious sport where licenses are required and strict guidelines and rules are issued that should be followed.

The rabbit is also a delacasy so don’t be surprised if you find it on a tapas menu in a restaurant!
