Some interesting news, the local council in the village of Teguise have just authorised that the historic building ‘El Palacio Ico’ be converted into a nine bedroom hotel with reception, dining room, gallery and terrace. Built in the 17th century the house was known as the “Barracks House” (Casa de los Cuarteles), but its actual name pays homage to the legendary Queen Ico and has reflected Lanzarote’s traditions, both architecturally and socially.

In 1980 the Casa Palacio Ico became the property of the Bucher family, who with great enthusiasm, began its meticulous restoration in 2005. While staying true to the Canarian style and architecture of the original structure, as endorsed by Lanzarote’s Heritage Department, its interior appointments are the most up to date.
